The debate over preservation versus growth is playing out in many Nashville neighborhoods, pitting developers against residents and, in some cases, neighbors against neighbors.
More Nashville neighborhoods are expressing interest in pursuing historic overlay designations — currently in place in 22 areas — in hopes of getting more control over how growth occurs, according to the Metro Nashville Historical Commission. Three neighborhoods have expanded their boundaries this year.
